Long description
You want one thing to take every day, and to keep taking it for years. Most people arrive at amla having already decided that.
Amla is eaten fresh in India, and it's properly, eye wateringly sour, which is the main reason most people take it as a capsule instead. It's also one of the three fruits in Triphala, so if you already take that, you're already taking amla in another form. Amla is naturally rich in vitamin C and antioxidants and is frequently taken to support immune function and general wellbeing. It is used in traditional herbal routines to help maintain energy, digestive health and skin vitality.
Amla, the Indian gooseberry
It's Phyllanthus emblica, called amalaki in Sanskrit and also Dhatri, which means nurse. The name amla itself means spotless. Ayurveda puts it at the centre of the rasayana tradition, the plants taken every day across years to keep a person steady rather than to answer a particular week. In the tradition's terms it's cooling, which is surprising for something that sour, and that's part of why it's held so highly.
The whole fruit, skin and fibre
The fruit is dried and ground with the skin and fibre left in, at 500mg a capsule. One ingredient, and the capsule that holds it. It's the fruit, dried and ground, and that is all that goes into the capsule.
How to take it
Taken steadily across a season or more, as the tradition uses it.

Ayurvediq began on a turmeric farm in India. Talia and Graham went out to see where it grew, came back with a good deal more than turmeric, and the range grew from there. We still work with the same growing communities. If you would like to know more about a particular herb, or which of these might suit you, write to us at support@ayurvediq.com. Where these come from is the part we know inside out.
