ONE-LINER
The root Ayurveda reaches for when the days are asking a lot.
SUMMARY
One ingredient, organic ashwagandha root, ground to a powder at 600mg a capsule. Ayurveda groups it with the grounding herbs, the ones used to steady someone through a demanding stretch, and places it among those taken steadily across months. Certified organic by the Soil Association.
LONG DESCRIPTION
Lying awake with the day still running. Weeks where everything lands at once and the tank is already low. That is what brings most people to ashwagandha.
Ashwagandha is the root people go looking for during one of those, and it's the one Ayurveda has turned to in demanding periods for a very long time. Withania somnifera, sold in English as Indian ginseng or winter cherry, grows as a small shrub in dry ground across India, with soft oval leaves and bright red berries. It's the root underneath that's used.
How Ayurveda places it
Ayurveda groups it with the grounding herbs, the ones used to steady someone through a demanding stretch rather than to lift them through a day. It's heavy and warming in the tradition's terms, a herb that settles rather than lifts. That's why a good many people take it in the evening, and why the classical texts place it among the herbs taken steadily across months rather than in a short course.
The root, ground to a powder
Ours is the root, ground to a powder, at 600mg a capsule. One ingredient, and the capsule that holds it.
What to expect when you open it
One thing worth knowing before you open the bottle. Ashwagandha smells strong and earthy, and at 600mg a capsule it comes through. That's exactly what organic whole root powder smells like.

Ayurvediq began on a turmeric farm in India. Talia and Graham went out to see where it grew, came back with a good deal more than turmeric, and the range grew from there. We still work with the same growing communities. If you would like to know more about a particular herb, or which of these might suit you, write to us at support@ayurvediq.com. Where these come from is the part we know inside out.
